Monday Made It! {June 2, 2014}

You know it's summer when I start posting my Monday Made It projects!  Ok, well, technically, my summer doesn't officially begin until the end of the week, but you get it!  Regardless, I'm excited to be linking up, once again, with the sweet Tara from 4th Grade Frolics!

I only have one "made it" to share today, and truth be told, I made it a few weeks ago and have been waiting to link up to share it with y'all.  No, I am not from the south, but I really do like that word, a lot...does it count if I have family in South Carolina?  I digress.

Back to my made it.  I made a cute fabric garland to hang in my reading corner at school.  Here it is hanging in my craft room after I had just finished it up.

It was so easy to make!  I used about 1/2 yard of each fabric (three different fabric prints in all), and still had some fabric left over. The entire length of the garland is approximately 36 inches.  After cutting my strips (you can also rip the fabric, but I've never been a fan of that) I simply tied them to a piece of 5/8" wide grosgrain ribbon.

I won't bombard you with the step by step how-to, because I used a tutorial that I found on Pinterest.  So, if you're interested in the directions, simply click here to visit the original source!

Finally, here's the garland hanging in the reading space.  It fills the awkward semi-empty space of wall in that area!  I say semi-empty because half of it is filled with those god awful plug outlets.  They usually have baby plugs in them but I took this picture as I started taking stuff down off the walls and so yes, I also had to remove the plugs too.  Bottom line, the outlets are ugly! Oh well, at least the garland isn't (wink, wink).

Over the summer, I hope to create a cute "Read" sign to fill the space below the garland. And, maybe think of some creative way to lessen the ugliness of those darn plugs.

Don't forget to check out all the amazing Monday Made It projects!
