This Year is Looking Bright {Back to School Gifts}
I'll be the first to admit that a back to school gift for your students is not necessary. However, it is something I do every year. It's an easy way to let my incoming students know that I'm excited they are in my class, and it might even do a little something to ease their nervous little minds. Today I'm sharing a quick and easy gift idea. Keep reading for all the details. This post contains an affiliate link for your shopping convenience. This year, I'm giving my students a few glow bracelets with this note attached.
I originally saw this idea on Pinterest (click HERE to see the original pin), but it was a dead end link. I was hoping the pin might lead me to a printable tag, but no such luck. So, I made my own!
How to Assemble
First, you'll need to print the gift tags, and cut them out. You can grab the tags {HERE}. That link will take you to a PDF version that cannot be edited.
If you would like to be able to type your name into the space at the bottom of the tag, then CLICK HERE for the editable PowerPoint version of the tag.
*HOW TO EDIT THE POWERPOINT*
The editable PowerPoint file has already been shared with you. You do not need to request access. You simply need to download the file to your computer (not Google).
In order to edit the PowerPoint you need to download the file to your computer and open it in PowerPoint:
- Click the download icon in the upper right hand corner of Google preview (it's a downward arrow pointing to a horizontal line).
- Open the document in PowerPoint (check your downloads folder if it doesn't automatically open).
- You may be prompted to click "enable editing" at the top of the screen in PowerPoint. Once you do that, you will be able to add your name, etc. to the document.
If your computer opens the PowerPoint in Google Slides when you download it, you will need to download the file to PowerPoint on your computer. You cannot edit in Google Slides:
- In Google Slides, go to "File."
- From the dropdown options, select "Download."
- Then, select "Microsoft PowerPoint."
- Check your downloads folder to open the file in PowerPoint.
- Click "enable editing" if prompted in PowerPoint.
- Now, you can edit the document.
Next, cut some scrapbook paper into 4 x 6 inches pieces.
Then, tape two glow bracelets (I got mine at Michael's: 15 bracelets for $1) to the center of each piece of scrapbook paper.
After that, it's time to attach the label to the scrapbook paper. To do this, glue along the top and bottom of the "Looking Bright" tag (see below). Then, place the tag on top of the bracelets (by placing the glue at the top and bottom of the printable tag you avoid getting glue on the bracelets). I used rubber cement, but a glue stick would work just fine.
That's all there is to it! Here's one last look at the finished product. It's a quick, easy, and inexpensive gift idea.
Click {HERE} to grab a copy of these gift tags (PDF version which includes some space for you to hand write your name/add your signature), or click HERE for the editable version (this means you can type your name/signature right on the tag before printing it out).
More Ways to Use the Gift Tag Freebie
These tags can also be used with other items too! Here's a list of ideas:
To attach the tag to the glasses above, I punched a hole above the letter "g" in the word "looking" and then tied the tag to the glasses with some super narrow ribbon.
DON'T FORGET IT, PIN IT!
Are you still here? If so, I've got another back to school freebie for you! Just print, cut, and attach to a bag of Goldfish crackers. Click here to download. Enjoy!

Hi Aimee!
ReplyDeleteThese are sooo cute! I want to do the "o-fish-ally" tags for Open House, but I teach Preschool. By any chance would you consider doing a "Preschooler" tag?
All the best,
Jenny

This freebie is not editable. There is space at the bottom of the note to write your name by hand, which is always a nice way of adding a personal touch to your gift. :)
