3-2-1 Teacher Bio {Weekend Warriors}

It's time for the next installment of Weekend Warriors! This month, we thought it would be fun to get to know each other a little bit better.

We are using the 3-2-1 nonfiction organizer idea to share some things about ourselves, and we hope that you decide to link up with us and share a bit about yourself too.  It's always fun to learn a little bit more about the people behind the blogs we love!  So, here is how it works.

Here is a little bit about me, the teacher.

I think most of us change things up from year to year. It's a great way to keep our teaching fresh.  I know it helps me to be more excited about what we are doing, and if I'm excited, so are my students.  Plus, the needs of my students vary from year to year, so modifying how I do things not only keeps my teaching fresh, but it ensures that I'm meeting my students needs.

I believe that high expectations are super important.  Not just for my students, but myself.  Lead by example, right?

I want my students to look forward to coming to school, and I want them to think it is fun!  My classroom is not the party zone, but you will see my students working collaboratively, playing games, moving around, and interacting with their learning material as often as possible. They are engaged, on-task, and enjoying the learning process, and that makes my teacher heart very, very happy.

Here is a little bit about me, the person. The regular me.  Warning: I thought I would have fun with this one, you know, let my sense of humor come out a bit. ;)

Ok, so I'm being sarcastic about my household chores (cooking, cleaning, laundry, and such).  They do get done, but they are my least favorite thing to do.  Especially during the school year.  Let's just say, they get done, but I do them quickly and I don't spend time fantasizing about getting them done. #sorrynotsorry

Clearly, my taste in collections is less than cultured.  It always has been.  Haha!  When I was younger, I used to collect stickers.  I had a whole book of them! My favorite were the puffy ones...and the smelly ones.  I also collected charms for my uber cool plastic charm bracelet.  Obviously, I was not, and still am not, a collector of fine or rare items.  I'm OK with that, collections should make you happy.  ;)

Let's move on to the question.  The question is, what is one thing on your bucket list?  Answer:

At the beginning of summer we took our Little Peanut to Disneyland and she absolutely loved it! We all did.  I've always wanted to go to Disney World and we decided that we need to make sure we she gets there one day.  Hopefully, we will be able to fulfill this bucket list item in the near future!

We'd love for you to join the fun and link up with us!  Simply grab the buttons below to use them in your post and make sure to link back to this post.  I can't wait to read all about you!

    1. Thanks, Julie! Yay for handbag addictions! If I had a fancy one like yours, I wouldn't take it out in the rain either!

  3. High expectations for sure! Definitely not a fan of house hold chores. I put them off as long as I possibly can. I just told Jared the other day that Disney World has moved to the top of my bucket list. I've never been and want our daughter to be able to experience that. I need to start saving now! :)

    1. Chores are a major bummer, right? Hehe. I have always wanted to go to Disney World, but it is so pricey, so if we start saving now, we might be able to go in a few years. Ha!

  4. I think you said it better. I agree that students should enjoy coming to school. I want them to love coming to my classroom and working with their peers. I love when they exclaim about how much fun their having (during an educational activity).

I hope you all do get a chance to make it to DisneyWorld. It definitely requires an extended stay and comfy shoes. We've been planning on going back during Christmastime and will hopefully get a chance to go back in the next few years. #fingerscrossed

    1. Aw, thanks! You are so right. We want them to be excited about school and learning. I always love hearing them say that they love an activity or they are having fun working on a skill. Disney World will definitely require a long stay and comfortable shoes. I hope we get there sooner than later!

  5. I also feel that school should be fun! As primary teachers it is important for us to lay the foundation for their education but also to develop a love of learning and school that will carry them through!
I also have a love/hate relationship with housework! Laundry is my worst enemy it is NEVER done! I enjoyed learning more about you! This link up is fabulous!

    1. You are so right, Jill! We need to think about not only their foundational learning, but also instilling a love of learning and school. And, chores are the worst! Ha!

  6. Disney World is also on my bucket list! Housework…not a fan. I would rather do anything than clean up around the house. Especially during the school year. I seriously get home and crash for the first month of school because I'm so exhausted. This year I'm going to assign myself a schedule in my planner for one thing I can do each day so cleaning the house isn't overwhelming. I hope I can stick to it :-)

    1. I love that plan! The first month back is always so brutal. And, I think the only people that really get that, are teachers. Here's to hoping we both end up at Disney World at some point!

  7. I have wayyyy too many nail polish bottles!! haha! So I can totally relate with having a lot of nail polish! I hope you get to Disney World one day! I've been to Disney World twice and Disneyland once. It's such a magical place no matter how many times you visit! Thanks so much for sharing about yourself!

    1. So glad I'm not alone! I recently bought a nail polish holder/organizer, and it is awesome! I grew up with Disneyland (we didn't live all that far from it), but Disney World has so many other things to see and do. One of these days, it will happen. ;)

  9. I think engagement is one of the most important aspects of a classroom. I work really hard to implement different strategies to engage my students! I love that engagement and expectations are important to you! I'm still making up my mind about the Disney World thing. We drove past there last time we were in Florida, but I'm just not crazy about crowds. Thanks for sharing!

    1. I couldn't agree more! Engagement is something I always take into consideration when I plan any lesson. I'm certainly not a fan of crowds (or humidity), but I'd be willing to brave them to see Cinderella's castle up close. Hehe. Thanks for stopping by!

  10. I feel the same way about learning should be fun and interactive. My students are rarely in their seats, always moving around the room. It makes me sad to see them stuck at their desks all day. Disney World is wonderful. Florida is closer to me then California so Disney World is where I've been and I just love it there. I'd love to see Disney Land too though. Hope you get to take your little peanut there too.

    1. Thanks, Stephanie! One day, we will get there (even if it's for her sweet 16-haha). I agree, when the littles are stuck in their seats all the time, it's miserable! They need to move, they need to interact, and it's important that we give them opportunities to do both. Thanks for stopping by!

  13. Thank you so much for visiting my blog! I enjoyed linking up with y'all this week! I would also love a Disney trip in the near future, but maybe I'll have to wait to have some little ones :) I'm with you on the chores-- my classroom is currently at my house and I'll do anything not to clean these days, especially if it involves Bravo or spending money! So glad I got to learn a little more about you :)

  14. I lived in Florida for 15 years, 30 minute drive from Disney World. I bought my first yearly season pass to Disney 4 years ago and it was SO WORTH IT! I literally (no exaggeration) would go nearly every weekend and there were always things that were new to me! I never tired of it! I recommend (if you can sneak away somehow) to go during October & November! The parks aren't AS crowded and they have the Food & Wine Festival at Epcot! I have celebrated my October birthday there for 4 years! It's great for kids, but SO MUCH fun for just adults as well!

  17. Hi Aimee, I enjoyed reading through your lists. I also agree that learning needs to be fun and engaging. I try to do the same to keep their attention. I am also guilty of watching too much tv, I can't get enough of Netflix and have been known to binge watch shows for hours, haha. Everything always eventually gets done! I think your collection sounds great, one can never have enough handbags or shoes in my book! I hope that you are able to visit Disney World soon! Thanks for this fun link up!

  20. Oh my word- thank you for making feel normal for changing things up. I'm so guilty of doing that and it drives me crazy sometimes, but I've found it's such a great learning experience as a teacher.

Disney World is definitely a must!! I can't remember what the webpage is, but you can find people who have Disney Passes and memberships and want to sell tickets and passes for less because they are not using them-it's an incredible website. If I find the link I will have to send it to you-Summer brain got the best of me.

Thanks for hosting this super cute and fun linky. I've had fun getting to know all of these incredible teachers.
